hello Eric, Did you do a follow up to this grow light building? I really enjoyed you and your honey’s ( and the dog) instructions, but I am curious to know if I should leave the plants in their peat pots or transfer them into bigger pots. I am in NE PA where we can still get frost as late as Memorial day and the plants are growing like crazy and I still have a month to go. Thanks Lynnie Anderson

hi lynnie, i would transfer them to larger pots, if you can. and i’d put half of them out in the garden, and if it frosts, you have the other half as a backup. IMO. thx, eri c

For a grw light, is it necessary to buy the special bulbs or will ordinary flourescents do?

  4. Eric Gunnar Rochow says

regular 40 watt daylight tubes will work fine. no need to buy the expensive ones. thanks, eric.

@john, i measured the width of the two shoplights, as they are butted together, and cut the plywood to that width. thx, eric.

Grow lights are a must in my apartment in Michigan. Two 6100k & 2600L bought at lowels Lumber yard
cost $9.00 and they work out good. The ballast sometimes is the frail link and must be replaced with a quality one. Be careful not to buy a cheep fixture due to balasts.
