Want to make a grow light for seed starting? Eric’s grow light plans in this video show you how to make an inexpensive grow light from parts you can buy at the hardware store. This grow light may not be fancy, but it works, and that’s what its all about on Gardenfork.

hello Eric, Did you do a follow up to this grow light building? I really enjoyed you and your honey’s ( and the dog) instructions, but I am curious to know if I should leave the plants in their peat pots or transfer them into bigger pots. I am in NE PA where we can still get frost as late as Memorial day and the plants are growing like crazy and I still have a month to go. Thanks Lynnie Anderson

hi lynnie, i would transfer them to larger pots, if you can. and i’d put half of them out in the garden, and if it frosts, you have the other half as a backup. IMO. thx, eri c

Eric,
For a grw light, is it necessary to buy the special bulbs or will ordinary flourescents do?
Thanks!
Tony

regular 40 watt daylight tubes will work fine. no need to buy the expensive ones. thanks, eric.
