I tried your dump cake and it was WONDERFUL! I only had 15 oz can of peaches but, it was still great. Will make it again, with more peaches next time though.

I heard this recipe referred to in a GFR podcast. I actually had some fresh peaches I needed to use up. I'm usually suspicious of these "It's just that simple!" recipes. But, I decided to try it anyway, after watching the video with Eric. I did several things wrong; I used a smaller baking dish, I just used all of the peaches I had and did not measure for weight, I used cream instead of milk... I ended up having to bake it an extra 15 minutes so the middle was mushy instead of soupy. Not my most beautiful creation ever. [pause] It tasted awesome. I will make it again. Thanks Eric an @writersinthesky!

I have made it twice now, both times with fresh peaches. The first time was good and the second time worked, but I pulled an Eric. I grabbed the wrong bag and put in powdered sugar instead of backing powder. It turned out ok, just not a cake.

Help!! I've tried this 3 times and it will not come out for me. It's always way too liquidy. I follow the recipe. I used a big can of peaches drained. 27 or 29 oz.
I only have an 8 inch pan but the last time I baked it extra long. and it was soooo wet. Am I using the wrong size of peaches. Eric used a 24 oz jar. I checked them out in the store. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.

For Brown sugar there is a brown sugar bear (http://www.sugarbearsinc.com/) These are awesome!!! I live in Nebraska and it can get quite humid here as well. I would also agree with Pat Murphy that storing it in an air tight container helps as well.

Nice, mine turned out perfect, even without the 'homemade' baking powder, which seems like a make work thing....Oh, and it is so much better without the off camera comments.

I tried doubling the recipe and it didn't turn out at all. I was disappointed because Eric made it look so good and so easy. I'll definitely have to try again but a single batch only. Thanks for the recipe.

I wasn't planning to make dessert tonight because I was pretty much out of everything, but your cake demo looked too easy, fun, and delicious to pass up! I used pineapple chunks, no sugar, and the family loved it! Thanks for all the great videos and info!

Eric if you store your sugar (brown or white) in an airtight container you will avoid those rock lumps that develop from the humidity. That's a nice container you have, but if you use a plastic resealable bag inside that sugar canister, it will help.
Looks like a nice easy cake you made, will have to give it a try!

looks great!!
it looks like you don't mix the batter into the butter, or the peaches into the batter. are you supposed to just pour them in so that the butter stays at the bottom and the peaches at the top?

Thanks for featuring my grandmother's peace cobbler recipe. I like the way you add such flair to your cooking. It reminds me of how she and I have always made this recipe. The clumped up sugar add a nice texture. If you want the cake to be more of a cobbler, don't drain the peaches. The extra liquid will make it spoonable.

Love the labs as they patiently wait for the butter to melt.
