  1. Hi Eric, Loved seeing a little of your Brooklyn world. I think you should try the peaches with a little French Vanilla ice cream instead of the ricotta. Just sayin.

Hey, here’s one for you – no cooking but very tasty… Lemon Italian Ice with blueberries and basil. Let me know if you try it. :)

    Take care!
    Deb

  2. I SOOO know about those oven doors that stick. Here’s some southern peach advice from the Virginia Piedmont… Try drizzlin’ some of that local honey you’ve got over those half-cooked peaches. Toss in a few broken pieces of pecans, and give each peach a splash of brandy (umm, make that a generous splash of brandy). Finish cooking them either on your temp grill or in the broiler. Just make sure you can get the oven door open before the honey burns.

    Cheers!

  3. I would try butter and sugar and give it a shot and go with what Cindy and Deb said and throw on some ice cream and nuts!

  4. I just made some this week. Try making a butter, brown sugar, Rum, and a little salt reduction. Cook the peach halves skin down first with just a little of the reduction for about 10 minutes, or as long as you can without burning. Then flip them over and do the same. When they are almost done add more of the sauce. Cool a little and serve with vanilla ice cream. (oh yea, put some cinnamon on too if you like it)

  5. what kyle said sounds really tasty!

it was great to see the urban side of the gardenfork crew.

  6. Ok, so Eric I don’t think your grill was totally ungreen. It looks all aluminum and if your community accepts aluminum other than cans for recycling your good. Also there are 100′s of ways to re-use that thing. Clean it up and start seeds in it. Use it to hold nuts and bolts in the shop or garage……

  7. good points. i am looking for a regular grill on trash day. people throw out perfectly good grills all the time. eric.

  8. Ok here is one I’ve done all summer (when we have peaches) and it has the wow factor. Try grilling the peaches plain, then drizzle with some local honey. When still warm, take a pinch of really good blue cheese and drop in the center and then finish it off with a couple coarse grinds of pepper. I know that last part seems a little weird…but try it, I think you will be pleasantly surprised cause it really works!

  9. Your article was excellent and edruite.
